Bethell is only 95% correct in his article. His one glaring deficiency is in his statement that “the Catholic Church does many good deeds in the community, particularly with its parish schools.”
As a victim of Catholic education, up to and including the university level, I know firsthand that the sole reason for parish schools is to continue and ensure the indoctrination of the young, so that like Pavlov’s dogs, they will react instinctively, without thought, to the issues rung up by the church’s anachronistic hierarchy.
