Isaiah Tishby; Scholar of Jewish Mystic Thought
Isaiah Tishby, 83, a leading scholar of Jewish mystic thought. Tishby was born in Hungary and immigrated to Jerusalem in 1933. At Hebrew University, he wrote his doctoral thesis on the Kabbalah, the philosophy of Jewish mysticism. His best-known work is “The Wisdom of the Zohar,” published by Oxford University Press. Tishby was a visiting professor at the Jewish Theological Seminary in New York and the Hebrew Union College in Cincinnati. On Sundayin Jerusalem.
