Irvine Man Killed at Yacht Club
DANA POINT — A 41-year-old Irvine resident was found shot to death at the Dana Point Yacht Club late Friday and a man was arrested in connection with the shooting, authorities said.
Sheriff’s deputies received reports of shots fired near the yacht club at 24705 Dana Drive at 11:20 p.m. Friday, said Sheriff’s Lt. Robert Rivas. The victim, Randy Lee Devore, died before deputies arrived, Rivas said.
Officers detained Robert McCloud Sherwood, 41, of Dana Point for questioning at the scene and arrested him on suspicion of murder shortly afterward, Rivas said. Authorities refused to comment on what led to Sherwood’s arrest.
An autopsy performed Saturday revealed that Devore died of multiple gunshot wounds.
No weapon has been found, and the Sheriff’s Department Harbor Patrol divers were searching the water Saturday for any evidence, Rivas said.
