COUNTYWIDE : Showers Intense but Rainfall Level Low
Short but intense showers fell Monday on parts of eastern Ventura County but left little measurable rain, officials said.
Today’s forecast called for partly cloudy skies with widely scattered showers and a possible thunderstorm, said Rick Dittman, a meteorologist with Weather Data Inc., which provides forecasts for The Times.
Temperatures will be mainly in the 60s, Dittman said.
Monday’s midday downpours hit Simi Valley and Moorpark, leaving 0.04 of an inch of rain at County Fire Station No. 46 in Simi Valley, county firefighters said.
“It was coming down pretty hard here,” said Fire Capt. Mike Sandwick. He said rains were heavy for about 20 minutes, then lighter showers continued for about 1 1/2 hours.
Cities in the west county remained mostly dry, officials said.
