COUNTYWIDE : Dead Identified in Weekend Accidents

Separate traffic accidents have claimed the lives of residents of Camarillo and Thousand Oaks, authorities said Monday.

William Cassidy, 35, of Camarillo was killed Sunday after his motorcycle slammed into a car being driven by Constance Provencher, 77, also of Camarillo, authorities said.

Cassidy died from internal injuries after surgery at Los Robles Medical Center, authorities said.

The 1:25 p.m. accident occurred as Cassidy was traveling south on Lewis Road near Temple Avenue in Camarillo. Provencher, who was traveling north on Lewis Road, made a left turn in front of Cassidy, authorities said. She was not injured.

In a second incident, Paul Kozera of Thousand Oaks died instantly when a car being driven by Timothy Jamerson mounted the shoulder on Moorpark Road north of Lexington Hill Drive and flipped over about 9:15 p.m. Sunday, authorities said.

Jamerson, 27, and his brother Dan Jamerson, 34, both of Thousand Oaks, received minor injuries but were not hospitalized, authorities said.

Timothy Jamerson, the only one of the trio who was wearing a seat belt, was arrested on suspicion of manslaughter and felony drunk driving, authorities said. He was released Monday from Ventura County Jail after posting $10,000 bail, officials said.

Donna Jamerson said she and her husband, Dan, broke the news of Kozera’s death to his wife, Betsy, late Sunday night. Both men worked for Litton Aerospace in Simi Valley and had been friends for more than a year, she said.

“Paul was a real great guy,” Donna Jamerson said. “It’s so hard to believe.” The Kozeras had been married for 12 years and had no children, she said.

And officials on Monday released the name of the victim in a third weekend accident. Manuel Rodriguez-Barajas, 34, of Mecca, Calif., died Sunday of head and internal injuries after the pickup truck in which he was a passenger crashed at 5th Street and Rice Avenue in Oxnard, police said.

The driver, Rudolfo Marmolejo, 21, was admitted to St. John’s Regional Medical Center with a dislocated hip and was listed in stable condition Monday. Passengers Jesus Pacheco, 42, and Daniel Mendiola, 24, were listed in fair condition at Ventura County Medical Center. Antonio Ramirez, 54, was not hospitalized.

Marmolejo was headed west on 5th Street when he accelerated to beat a signal and sideswiped a southbound vehicle, witnesses told police. The pickup skidded onto the dirt shoulder and rolled over several times, police said.

Marmolejo was being investigated for driving under the influence of alcohol, officials said.
