Man Badly Burned in Gasoline Fire
WESTMINSTER — A 26-year-old man trying to start his car by pouring gasoline into the carburetor was seriously burned over 30% of his body Monday when the gasoline ignited.
Ismael Munoz of Garden Grove was bending over the engine of a car in the 14000 block of Nancy Lee Drive while a second man, who was not identified, tried to start the car, Fire Department Capt. Craig Campbell said.
The gasoline ignited suddenly, burning Munoz on his face, neck, back and chest, Campbell said. Munoz was taken to UCI Medical Center in Orange, where he was reported in stable condition in the burn unit Monday night.
