Tyson Signs Autographs but Isn’t Eating

Mike Tyson has refused to eat in prison in an effort to lose weight, and faces disciplinary action for giving other inmates his autograph, Indiana correctional officials said Monday.

The former heavyweight champion also declined Monday to take part in an assessment of his educational background, officials said. The assessment is used to help determine where Tyson should be sent to complete his six-year prison sentence.

Tyson, 25, was imprisoned Thursday after being sentenced on convictions for rape and criminal deviate conduct. His attorneys asked the Indiana Court of Appeals to release Tyson on bond pending the appeal. No action was taken on the request.
