Tax Tips
Today is the deadline for most taxpayers to file their federal and state income tax returns.
Ten post offices in Los Angeles County will be accepting returns until midnight; for a recorded message listing post offices that will be open late and their addresses, call (213) 587-6142, Ext. 810. If you need additional information, you may speak to someone by calling the Los Angeles Postal Service Hot Line at (213) 586-1467 before 5 p.m.
Here’s how to get information about other post offices keeping later-than-usual hours (call before 5 p.m.):
* If you are calling from Ventura County, use the Los Angeles-area telephone numbers.
* From Orange County, call (714) 662-6200.
* From San Bernardino, Riverside or Imperial counties, call (714) 335-4300.
* From San Diego County, call (619) 574-0477.
Bear in mind that some post offices keeping late hours today may be open only for collections and may not provide the full range of normal services.
