ROAD NOTES
Drivers on the Foothill Freeway from Pasadena east will have new cellular call boxes to use in case of emergency by June. The county Transportation Commission is replacing 391 old boxes with new solar-powered computerized communications equipment. The cellular telephone boxes feature automatic location identification, bilingual instructions, larger pedestrian standing areas and automatic vandalism alarms.
