Two Glendale residents have won Los Angeles...
Two Glendale residents have won Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce and U.S. Small Business Administration “Small Business Week” Awards.
* Bonnie Barnett, founder and president of Collection Consultants of California, is the recipient of the Women in Business Award.
* Vincent H. Schaub, president of Medi-Rite Inc., will receive the Entrepreneurial Success Award.
* Ernest L. Messner of La Canada Flintridge has been elected chairman of the Mountains Conservancy Foundation.
The foundation is a nonprofit corporation that provides for acquisition, improvements and renovation of parkland and buildings in the Rim of the Valley and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Messner is the assistant regional counsel for the Federal National Mortgage Assn. in Pasadena.
* Shireen Miles of Van Nuys has been appointed executive director for the YWCA of Glendale. The UC Davis graduate was most recently state coordinator for the California National Organization for Women and marketing manager for the Hornet Foundation at Cal State Sacramento.
* Ana Luisa Herrera has been named co-anchor of “Noticiero 52,” a news program produced by the Glendale-based, Spanish-language television station KVEA, Channel 52.
Herrera, a Glendale resident and a native of Lima, Peru, previously was chief correspondent of the Caribbean News Bureau for the Telemundo Network, which owns KVEA. She also has worked at El Nuevo Herald newspaper in Miami.
