*** Buffalo Tom, “Let Me Come Over,” RCA. Record a melodious bunch of songs about romantic longing or heartache, inject a screeching guitar here and a rhythmic assault there, and . . . presto: a college-radio-friendly album. Despite the familiarity and the failure of the group to reflect the urgency and wit of its most commanding peers, the Amherst trio--scheduled for the Whisky on May 21--exhibits a strong sense of songwriting craft, especially in the softer, folk-tinged numbers.
Album briefs, rated on a scale of one star (poor) to four stars (excellent)
