Long jump world record-holder Mike Powell begins his outdoor season today at the S&W; Modesto Invitational at Modesto Junior College.
Powell set a world record of 29 feet 4 1/2 inches last summer at the World Championships but has competed only three times since.
Also in the field are four-time Olympian Larry Myricks and Llewellyn Starks, ranked fourth in the world last season.
