ACLU Camping

I am writing you concerning the recent decision by (Orange County Superior Court) Judge Richard O. Frazee relating to the Boy Scouts (“Atheist Boys Win Battle to Be Scouts,” May 8). I was not a Boy Scout in my youth; however, I feel very strongly that the Boy Scouts have been a positive influence on our society and its youth.

My point is simple. The Boy Scouts, be they nonprofit or not, be they owners of public property or not, are a strictly voluntary organization in terms of joining. If these boys have a problem with rules, Boy Scouts or otherwise, they simply should not join that organization. Let them find an agnostic group to become affiliated with, like the ACLU.
