Saddleback’s Fouret Wins Tennis Title in Three-Set Match
Jamie Fouret of Saddleback won the women’s singles championship at the Community College State tennis tournament Saturday at Rancho Bernardo.
Fouret became the first Saddleback player to win a State championship in women’s tennis by defeating Wendy Gutierrez of Palomar, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2. Fouret also needed three sets to defeat Mai Chi Tieu of Los Angeles Pierce in the semifinals, 3-6, 6-3, 6-1.
Fouret also earned the Arthur Ashe award, given by the National Intercollegiate Tennis Coaches Assn. for outstanding sportsmanship.
