Biopool International Posts 1st Operating Profit

Biopool International Inc., a Ventura provider of medical diagnostic test kits, said it earned $121,496 in the first quarter, its first operating profit since the company’s founding in 1987.

The profit in the quarter that ended March 31 compared with a year-earlier loss of $48,301, and came on a 68% jump in its sales, to $1.18 million from $704,200.

Biopool attributed the gains to wider distribution of its kits, new-product introductions and its acquisition in January of Medical Diagnostic Technologies Inc.
