Pacific Symphony Hires Cellist, Violinists and Violists

The Pacific Symphony has hired nine musicians, including a new principal cellist, Timothy Landauer.

Currently principal cellist of the Riverside County Philharmonic, Landauer, 29, teaches at Claremont Graduate School and at the Idyllwild School of Music and the Arts.

There are five new violinists--Liane Mautner, principal second violin with the South Coast Symphony; Jeanne Evans, Tiffany Yi Hu, Olivia Tsui and Dynell Weber--and three new violists: Keith Greene, Julia Staudhammer and Wanda Law.

The new musicians--some of whom will join next week, some of whom won’t start till the fall--will not increase the size of the orchestra but will fill open slots on its roster. Auditions were held May 10 and 12 at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa.
