DANA POINT : Man Killed When Truck Overturns
A 28-year-old Costa Mesa man was killed early Monday when his truck rolled off an embankment next to the transition road between Interstate 5 and northbound Coast Highway in Dana Point, authorities said.
Todd Eric Sorenson was leaving the freeway at the Beach Cities exit about 1 a.m. when he drove off the road onto a dirt embankment and his truck overturned, according to a report by Officer Mike Kelley of the California Highway Patrol. Sorenson was ejected from the truck and landed on the roadway. He was dead at the scene, according to the report.
A preliminary investigation indicated that Sorenson had left a San Clemente bar where he had been involved in a confrontation with a bartender. Officers have reason to believe he had been drinking, but the full report on his condition will not be known until toxicology reports are completed in two weeks, said Officer Bruce Lian.
