Cerritos : Sheriff’s Deputy to Patrol Parks During the Summer
With more people using Cerritos parks during summer months, a Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department deputy is patrolling them four days a week to deal with loitering and inappropriate behavior.
Mike Fleager, the city’s community safety coordinator, said the patrol is not a reflection of increased problems but is intended to provide “officer friendly” service to youngsters and adults using the parks. “Parks are a place for people to go and feel free to use them as intended. That has always been a Cerritos position.”
The deputy, who has been assigned exclusively to park duty, circulates among the city’s 24 parks between noon and 10 p.m. Thursday through Sunday.
