SANTA CLARITA : Forum Planned on Hiring Contractors
The city of Santa Clarita will sponsor a community forum July 28 in an effort to discourage residents from hiring unlicensed contractors.
City building officials estimate that about 10% of construction work in the city is done by unlicensed contractors. The forum is an effort to inform residents about problems associated with hiring them, including shoddy workmanship, said Ruben M. Barrera, the city’s building official.
The forum at City Hall, 23920 Valencia Blvd., also will include information about how to obtain a contractor’s license and obtain city building permits.
