2 Drivers Hurt When Car Hits Truck Head-On
Two drivers were seriously injured early Wednesday in a head-on collision on Harbor Boulevard near the Santa Clara River that also brought rush-hour traffic to a standstill, said a California Highway Patrol spokeswoman.
According to a CHP report, the accident occurred at 7:30 a.m. just south of the bridge that spans the mouth of the Santa Clara River. Witnesses reported that thick low clouds made visibility poor at the time.
Betty Halloway, 29, of Oxnard was driving north when her car drifted onto the right shoulder and over a raised berm, the spokeswoman said. Halloway lost control of the car as she attempted to correct, and her car drifted in front of a southbound pickup truck driven by Ronald Biggers, 55, of Ojai, the spokeswoman said.
Halloway and Biggers were taken to St. John’s Regional Medical Center in Oxnard with major injuries, she said.
