More than 250,000 people are expected to attend the Van Nuys Airport Aviation Expo ’92 this weekend, featuring displays of vintage airplanes, business aircraft and military jets including the Stealth fighter.
The annual two-day event will be dedicated to the Los Angeles Fire Department, the Los Angeles Police Department, the National Guard, the American Red Cross and other groups that helped restore calm and security in Los Angeles during the riots.
The Army Gold Knights Parachute Team will launch the flying and entertainment programs both days.
Admission is free both Saturday and Sunday, but visitors are asked to bring donations of non-perishable food items for distribution to the hungry of Los Angeles. Proceeds from food, beverage and souvenir sales will benefit local charities and nonprofit organizations.
The pedestrian entrance is located at the former Air National Guard Base, 8030 Balboa Blvd., Van Nuys. Free parking and shuttle bus service from five remote lots is available.
