Double Duty: Heinz Fricke, 65, the recently retired music director of the Staatsoper in the former East Berlin, will become the music director of the Kennedy Center Opera House Orchestra and the Washington Opera beginning in the 1993-94 season. The appointment fills two overlapping jobs formerly held by John Mauceri, who left the opera in 1982 but remained music director of the Kennedy Center Orchestra until 1990. Mauceri is now conductor of the Hollywood Bowl Orchestra.
