Using a Computer for Squeak Attack
LONDON — A British firm has built a mousetrap that uses infrared beams and computer controls instead of a lump of cheese to snare unsuspecting rodents.
“We expect the world to beat a path to our door for this trap,” said Peter Bateman of the vermin control firm Rentokil.
Mouse Alert uses a tiny arched hole to attract its inquisitive victim. Two beams make sure the rodent is in the trap. Then a transmitter signals a control center, and the trap door slams shut.
A technician is alerted by a flashing light once the mouse is caught, said Rentokil, the company that Queen Elizabeth uses for pest control.
