Dodgers to Honor Team of 8th-Graders

Luis Perez, Jesus Sanchez, Brian Meza and Gerardo Aviles, eighth-graders at Gidley School in El Monte, have won the Dodgers’ Team Esteem Program and will be honored at the Dodger game Tuesday.

The boys worked as a team to do a community service project of cleaning up their school site. According to Bobbie Clarke of the school’s Speech/Language Department, the boys had thought of dropping out of school until they participated in the program, which included work sheets on self-esteem.
