PLATFORM : A Modern County
The public is demanding a county government that is powerful enough to be effective yet restrained enough to be accountable. And that is precisely what a larger Board of Supervisors, checked by a countywide elected executive, would accomplish.
This county would finally join the ranks of those urban areas with modern county governments. The people of Los Angeles County can no longer afford the outmoded structure of government established in the 1850s when we were a sparsely populated rural county. The highly complex metropolitan area we have evolved into today demands an equally sophisticated form of government, capable of exercising the strong leadership necessary to solve the critical problems we face.
Passage of these amendments will fundamentally restructure County government and fundamentally reform the way County does business.
