BARCELONA ’92 OLYMPICS / DAY 7 : SUMMER GAMES SPOTLIGHT : MAYBE A BARN DANCE

After American Melvin Stewart won the men’s 200-meter butterfly gold medal Friday night, he sat at an interview table and listened to silver medalist Danyon Loader of New Zealand explain Tai-Chi, a martial arts method.

“My coach once told me that by using Tai-Chi, he slapped a horse on the rear and the horse dropped dead,” Loader said. “Just through Tai-Chi, the horse’s spleen exploded.”

Stewart, a free spirit who moments before had finished explaining cow tipping--which is exactly what it sounds like--looked at Loader in amazement.

“I want to party with this guy,” he said.
