VENTURA : Concert to Raise Funds for Surgery
A benefit concert will be held today to assist a Ventura woman who is suffering from pulmonary fibrosis, a disease that may take her life if she doesn’t undergo surgery.
Without a lung transplant, Fernanda Calderon, 30, an Oxnard native, may not live more than a year, according to her doctor, David Mescher, who practices in Oxnard. The concert, featuring Mariachi Dos Estrellas and Grupo Entusiasmo, will be held at noon at Mercado La Plaza, 500 East 5th St., Oxnard. Contributions will be collected for Calderon during the event.
The benefit is sponsored by Mercado La Plaza and KSTV, Channel 57, a Spanish-language television station based in Ventura County.
Contributions for the surgery also can be sent to Fernanda Calderon Trust Fund, in care of Bank of A. Levy, 5808 E. Main St., Ventura 93003.
