Baby Abandoned Near Pacoima Store
A baby girl was found abandoned outside a Pacoima grocery store Saturday, Los Angeles police said.
The baby was found about 5 p.m. in an alley behind Tresierras Market at 13158 Van Nuys Blvd. near San Fernando Road, said Sgt. Lee Allen. The infant who is about 2 weeks old weighs about 9 pounds, is about 17 inches long with black hair and brown eyes, he said.
A woman on her way to the market noticed the baby sitting unattended in a stroller. When the same woman walked by about 20 minutes later on her way back from the market and saw the baby still sitting there, she took the child home, fed and bathed her then called police.
The baby was at Foothill Police Station on Saturday night, awaiting action by city child welfare officials. The child’s bottle holder had the name “Amber” engraved on it, Allen said.
