China Joins International Copyright Convention: China has agreed to adhere to a 40-year-old international copyright agreement, honoring a pledge it made to the United States to strengthen protection of international property rights. China is joining the Universal Copyright Convention, which has 85 members. The convention protects copyrights related to literary, art and academic works. China and the United States were on the brink of a trade war in January before Beijing agreed to join the convention.
