Alemany’s Dice Signs Letter of Intent to Play Football for Arizona
Wide receiver Richard Dice of Alemany High, a Times All-Valley selection in football and basketball, has signed a letter of intent to play football for Arizona.
After struggling since last fall to score the required 700 on the Scholastic Aptitude Test, Dice scored 1,070 on the test in May, maintained a 2.0 grade-point average in core classes at Alemany and was offered a scholarship by Arizona.
USC recruited the 6-foot-2, 200-pound Dice as a defensive back, but the Wildcats promised Dice he could play wide receiver, according to Alemany Coach Pat Blackburn. Dice is the only receiver in Arizona’s freshman recruiting class, Blackburn said.
Dice, a two-time Times All-Valley football selection, caught 44 passes for 695 yards and 11 touchdowns to lead Alemany to a 6-4 finish last fall. He also carried 32 times for 154 yards.
In basketball, Dice averaged 21.8 points a game as a senior, playing several positions.
