Weir to Play Baseball for Fresno State
Tim Weir, a speedy outfielder at Valley College the past two seasons, has accepted a partial scholarship to play baseball for Fresno State. Weir, a Crespi High graduate, chose Fresno State after considering similar offers from California, Nevada and Sam Houston State.
At Valley this spring, Weir batted .317 with 27 runs scored, six doubles and five stolen bases.
Gene Ellen Rogers has been named girls’ basketball coach at Chaminade High. Rogers, who will remain athletic director and a teacher at Pinecrest School in Woodland Hills, replaces Lisa Magorien.
The Golf and Tennis Classic at the Braemar Country Club in Tarzana will be held Sept. 21, co-sponsored by the Mid-San Fernando Valley and Studio City chambers of commerce.
