China to Overhaul State-Run Airlines: Chinese officials have announced plans for a major reform of state-run airlines and airports to allow foreign investment and managers from abroad, an official newspaper reported. Jiang Zhuping, director of the Civil Aviation Administration, said China’s air service will be restructured into a shareholding enterprise, the China Daily said. Domestic airlines and foreign investors will be allowed to buy stock in the enterprise. The reforms also will allow domestic airports to be built and managed by joint ventures with foreigners, the newspaper reported.
