Melon Festival Left Sour Taste
On Sunday, Aug. 9, I took my family to Sunland Park in Sunland for the Annual Watermelon Festival.
I don’t know what was worse, stepping over the watermelon rinds, walking around the passed-out drunks or avoiding the teen-agers smoking marijuana in the child’s fun zone. I walked around for a half-hour, looking for security or police; none was to be found.
I think my family will stick with going to affairs at Hansen Dam, where the so-called “troublemakers and gang members” at least act like decent citizens.
