Water Skier Severely Injured at Lake
A water skier’s arm was nearly severed in a motorboating accident at Pyramid Lake, authorities said Sunday.
Steve Perelman, 45, of Newbury Park was in critical condition in the intensive care unit at Henry Mayo Newhall Memorial Hospital, Los Angeles Sheriff’s Lt. John Vander Horck said.
Perelman was water-skiing behind a motorboat about 5:30 p.m. Saturday when a second boat turned toward him and knocked him into the water, Vander Horck said. The boat’s driver apparently did not see Perelman.
Perelman’s right arm was nearly severed just above the wrist by the rotor blades of the boat’s motor. He was taken by helicopter to the hospital.
