Bubka Takes Record Up Another Notch
From Staff and Wire Reports
Sergei Bubka, who missed all of his attempts at the Olympics, set his 31st world record in the pole vault at the Industry Trophy track and field meet Sunday at Padua, Italy.
The Ukrainian’s vault of 20 feet 1 inch improved by a half-inch his outdoor world mark set in Dijon, France, on June 13.
Bubka, an Olympic champion in Seoul and world champion in Tokyo last year, cleared the record height on his first vault after missing once at 19-2 1/2.
