DOG TIRED: Rex is retiring after 5 1/2 years of service for the Santa Ana Police Department after building a considerable reputation with SWAT team work and helping out in 70 felony arrests. He will now chase rabbits. The Belgium malanois, who is being retired for medical reasons, will live with his trainer, Officer Bill Letizio. Both are on vacation this week. Rex will be replaced by a German shepherd named Endy, whose training will be paid for by Santa Ana Elks Lodge 794.
