Alison Streeter, a 28-year-old British woman, weathered a thunderstorm to break two records while swimming the English Channel. Streeter swam the Channel for the 20th time, breaking the women’s record set by Cindy Nicholas of Canada 10 years ago, according to Press Assn., the British national news agency. She also broke an all-around record for number of crossings in a single year with her seventh of 1992, breaking the mark of Briton Michael Read, who holds the overall record of 31 crossings.
