Bicyclist Who Died in Santa Ana Bus Accident Identified
SANTA ANA — Coroner’s office investigators on Tuesday identified a bicyclist who was killed in a collision with a county bus.
The 21-year-old man was identified as Leobardo Correra Briones, a laborer who last lived along Dairyview Circle in Huntington Beach, said deputy coroner’s investigator Richard McAnally.
Correra Briones also once lived in Stanton on Court Street, McAnally said.
McAnally said he used fingerprint records to identify Correra Briones, who was wearing white tennis shoes, blue pants and a white T-shirt with a picture of a pit bull on the back.
Correra Briones died immediately Monday evening after colliding with an Orange County Transportation Authority bus, which was headed north along Beach Boulevard near Lampson Avenue in Stanton.
Sheriff’s investigators said Correra Briones was riding north near the bus when, for unknown reasons, he turned left into the path of the bus, which could not stop before hitting him.
