AZTEC UPDATE : NOTEBOOK / SCOTT MILLER : Lowery Back at Practice
SAN DIEGO — After having not practiced in eight days before UCLA’s rout of San Diego State, Aztec quarterback David Lowery participated in his first full-length practice Tuesday and hopes to have a better performance Saturday at New Mexico.
“It’s a lot better,” Lowery said. “I threw today pretty much sharp-pain free. It’s still sore, but nothing like it was last week.”
Coach Al Luginbill is happy to have Lowery back on the field.
“He’s got a lot more mobility,” Luginbill said. “He’s still not 100%. We’ll keep working day to day with him.”
Luginbill said it is hard to say whether Lowery will be 100% by game day.
“It’s a day-to-day deal,” Luginbill said. “Only he can judge that.”
For now, Lowery will judge only his practices.
“It’s a whole different experience when you’re practicing,” he said.
Add Lowery: The Aztec quarterback will be on the field at San Diego Jack Murphy Stadium tonight, but it will be hard to spot him.
He has 10th-row, center-stage tickets to tonight’s Guns n’ Roses and Metallica concert. So if you see him sprinting out of the locker room after practice . . .
“I’ll get there late,” he said. “Probably halfway through Metallica. I’ll get to see Guns, though.”
