Young Voters

I am a senior in high school, and I have found that most students who have reached legal voting age of 18 have no desire to participate in the presidential election. This is not only due to their dissatisfaction with the two candidates (Clinton and Bush), but also to the fact that they are not informed enough about the candidates’ programs and to the insignificance they feel in casting “just another ballot that will never make a difference.”

Of course the candidates choose to focus on the middle-class, middle-aged sector. They are the ones who compose the majority of voters. But the younger sector (the 18-to mid-20s range) can truly make a profound impact if it chooses to band together. If every one of these indifferent students cast a ballot, perhaps the candidates would begin redirecting their programs to include more benefits for the younger sector.
