The Angels have purchased the contract of infielder-outfielder Ty Van Burkleo from their 1992 triple-A affiliate in Edmonton.

Van Burkleo, 29, batted .273 with 19 home runs (tied for third in the Pacific Coast League) and 88 runs batted in (fourth). He also stole 29 bases in 34 attempts while playing 74 games at first base, one at second and 47 in the outfield.
