Today: Democrats for Change/35th Assembly District Committee will meet at 7 p.m. at the offices of the Carpinteria Sanitary District Offices, 5300 6th St. in Carpinteria. The group has formed minority and special-interest caucuses to address concerns of women, Latinos, organized labor, gays and lesbians. Today: Simi Valley candidates for mayor will speak at a forum sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Ventura County, the Simi Valley Enterprise and Com-Cast Television. The forum will be held from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Simi Valley City Hall, 2929 Tapo Canyon Road, and will be broadcast at 6 p.m. Friday on Cablevision’s Channel 19. Today: A panel of business leaders will interview candidates in Oxnard’s mayor and City Council races at a forum sponsored by the Gateway Title and Grubb & Ellis companies. The forum will be held at the North Coast Executive Center, 1000 Town Center Drive, Oxnard, with a 5 p.m. cocktail reception followed by the forum at 5:30 p.m. For reservations, call Lisa Ferell or Sara Soudani at 642-0303.

Today: The Assn. of Retarded Citizens will host a forum for candidates in local state and federal races from 5 to 7 p.m. at 1732 S. Lewis Road, Camarillo. Candidates who have agreed to attend include: Assemblywoman Cathie Wright (R-Simi Valley), Roz McGrath, Anita Perez Ferguson, Lanny Ebenstein and Hank Starr. Friday: Proposition 166, the Health Care Mandate Initiative, will be the subject of an address by Charles Conine of the Wilshire Restaurant Group at the monthly breakfast meeting of the Simi Valley Chamber of Commerce. A discussion will follow on nine state propositions that the chamber has taken a position on, while most of the 10 candidates endorsed by the chamber are expected to attend the breakfast. The meeting, which begins at 7:30 a.m. with breakfast and the program at 8 a.m., will be held at the Radisson Hotel, 999 Enchanted Way, Simi Valley. Tickets are $7 for chamber members and $10 for non-members. Call the chamber at 526-3900 for reservations.
