Three candidates are running at large for two seats on the Stanton City Council in the Nov. 3 election.
William H. Horton
Age: 58.
Occupation: Automotive group manager.
Background: U.S. Navy Air Corps 1951-55; studied business administration at University of Michigan 1950-51.
Issues: Says city should evaluate Garden Grove Police Department proposal to provide police services; opposes widening Katella Avenue; says city should have postponed $5-million Civic Center project; supports home ownership programs over rental subsidies; would raise fees or taxes to maintain police services.
Robert K. Hyun
Age: 25.
Occupation: Recent college graduate.
Background: Computer science graduate 1992, Cal State Long Beach; graduate of Magnolia High School.
Issues: Says city should evaluate Garden Grove Police Department proposal to provide police services; supports Katella Avenue widening as long as resident parking mitigation is included; says city should have postponed the Civic Center project; supports home ownership programs over rental subsidies; would find services to cut before raising taxes or fees.
Sal Sapien
Age: 53.
Occupation: High school attendance supervisor.
Background: Mayor for past three years; president of Boys and Girls Club in 1983, currently on board of directors; Stanton Man of the Year in 1984.
Issues: Voted not to evaluate Garden Grove Police Department proposal for police services; supports widening of Katella Avenue if mitigation for neighbors is included; supports the Civic Center project; supports home ownership programs over rental subsidies; supports regional consolidation of some services to save money.
