Simi Valley Water Polo Coach Back After 1-Match Suspension
Simi Valley High water polo Coach Tony Smith was back on the bench Wednesday afternoon after a one-match suspension for using an ineligible player.
Smith used senior goaltender Craig Ritcheson during a 30-0 loss to Royal on Oct. 16, leading to a one-match suspension from George Ragsdale, the Simi Valley athletic director. Ritcheson had been declared academically ineligible at the start of the season but his status was under review when Smith decided to play him.
Ragsdale coached the team last Friday in a loss to Newbury Park. Simi Valley fell to 0-12, 0-7 in Marmonte League play Wednesday with an 8-6 loss to visiting Westlake.
