New England Patriot quarterback Hugh Millen will not play Sunday at Buffalo because of a severe shoulder separation, the team said. Millen, who was injured last week during a loss to the Cleveland Browns, might undergo surgery at the end of the season.

Tommy Hodson is expected to replace Millen.

A misdemeanor charge of illegal possession of drug paraphernalia against New York Giants’ linebacker Steve DeOssie in Grapevine, Tex., was disposed of when he agreed to a bond forfeiture, his attorney said.

Attorney Mark Deubner said the forfeiture of $175 effectively ends the case without a criminal judgment being rendered.

The Minnesota Vikings placed Hassan Jones on the injured reserve list, and the wide receiver is expected to miss four to six weeks with a back injury. Jones fractured bones in his back two weeks ago against the Detroit Lions.

Cornerback Deion Sanders missed practice with the Atlanta Falcons while undergoing tests on an injured left foot. Falcon trainer Jerry Rhea said Sanders has a “sprain” and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Defensive end Steve Emtman of the Indianapolis Colts was hospitalized for treatment of an infected right elbow but should be healthy for Sunday’s game at San Diego.
