ROUNDUP : Kocur Boosts Season Goal Total to 103
Jack Kocur surpassed the 100-goal mark for the season as Royal High (22-1, 8-0 in Marmonte League play) posted a 22-3 water polo victory Friday over visiting Westlake.
Kocur scored five goals to give him 103 with two matches to play. Royal’s win was its 56th consecutive in league play.
In other water polo matches:
Harvard-Westlake 22, St. John Bosco 1--Ron Scott, Dan Reeves, Jim Toring and Todd Schumer each scored three goals to power the Wolverines (24-1, 11-0) past the outmanned Braves in a Mission League match at Bellflower.
COLLEGE SOCCER
Moorpark 3, Bakersfield 1--The defending state champion Raiders recorded their third consecutive victory, beating visiting Bakersfield in a Western State Conference match.
Moorpark (8-4-5, 4-0-1 in conference play) held a 1-0 lead at halftime on Maureen O’Hare’s goal.
The Raiders extended their lead to 2-0 when Rachel Gagliano scored on a penalty kick, and after Bakersfield cut its deficit in half, Cara Tubbs scored an unassisted goal to give Moorpark its final margin.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Hart d. Canyon, 6-15, 15-7, 15-9, 4-15, 15-10--Shannon Martin had 20 kills and Becky Rosenberg added 33 assists for Hart (7-8, 4-7) as the Indians defeated host Canyon for the second time this season in a Foothill League match.
Rachel Rich recorded five aces for Hart. Canyon fell to 9-3, 8-3 in league play.
Nordhoff d. El Toro, 15-4, 15-6, 15-3--Sami Sawyer had 10 kills, 13 assists and seven aces to lead the Rangers over the defending state Division I champion in the first round of the Santa Barbara Tournament of Champions.
Alison Nofrey added nine kills and six blocks for Nordhoff (13-0).
