The city’s $6.6-million Arts and Sports Complex will be dedicated at 2:30 p.m. today.

The sports center, which opens to the public Nov. 9, includes a gymnasium with basketball courts and seating for 150 spectators, along with a variety of sports courts and rooms for weight training, boxing, aerobics and dance.

The meeting center has three rooms, one with auditorium-style seating for 460 people. The cultural arts center includes two meeting rooms, classrooms and a 3,500-square-foot multipurpose room. A tree-shaded hospitality court accommodates 1,000 people for an assembly and 500 for dining. The meeting and cultural centers are already in use.

The complex, at Clarkdale Avenue and Olive Street, is built in a contemporary architectural style that combines multicolored fired-clay brick walls with curving glass blocks.
