BURBANK : Fund-Raiser to Aid Branch of Museum
Burbank city officials and business leaders will hold a fund-raiser Thursday for the proposed Burbank branch of the Los Angeles County Natural History Museum.
The event will be held in the rotunda of the Media City Center mall, 201 E. Magnolia Blvd., where photographs and other exhibits of wildlife are on display.
Construction is already under way at the $1.2-million museum at 3rd Street and Cypress Avenue, but the city needs to raise $300,000 for operating costs and interior work on the facility as part of a deal between Burbank and county officials.
The museum is scheduled to open in late April.
The city has raised about $35,000 so far, including $25,000 from Walt Disney Studios, Assistant City Manager Richard Inga said.
