Small Technology Firms to Increase Hiring, Survey Finds
Small technology manufacturers in the greater Orange County region expect to hire as many as 7,000 employees during the next year, according to a survey by a Massachusetts market research firm.
The survey of 115 high-tech companies with fewer than 1,000 employees forecasts that employment in the technology sector could rise by 6.5% in 1993, contrasted with a 1% increase during 1992, according to CorpTech in Woburn, Mass.
Statewide, the survey projects 6.8% growth among technology companies. Nationally, firms projected a 5.2% increase in employment.
The survey is based on a sample of more than 1,500 companies profiled in a newly published Greater Orange County Technology Resource Guide. The companies are in parts of Riverside, Orange and San Diego counties.
CorpTech conducted the survey by asking company executives their current employment levels and their hiring plans for 1993. The survey was conducted in September and released this week.
