New Plans Raised Cost

In the “At Home” feature on Playa del Rey (“Lifestyle Gives Seaside Enclave Its Charm,” Oct. 25) I was quoted as having said that our renovation project started at one figure and ended up at a much higher number. These figures have been interpreted by quite a few people to mean that the budget went through the roof unexpectedly.

We started this project with a rather small idea. During the planning stages my husband and I decided that rather than just minor changes, that this would be a total renovation. Because of this, the budget increased accordingly. There were no surprises.

Working with our contractor and architect was comfortable, and even fun. They helped us achieve our dream home within budget and ahead of schedule. The best decision that we made during the whole project was hiring them. Thanks for allowing me to clear up this misunderstanding.
